Folks, I just inherited a Winchester model 1892 from my grandfather that I was looking for some help on. It appears to be nickel plated. Has the October 1884 patent mark along the barrel. Model 1892 stamped behind the hammer, and the Winchester arms marks (I assume) are on the barrel. Has an octagonal barrel, and the barrel appears to be about 24 inches long. 25-20 WCF is stamped on the left side of the barrel.

And the serial number is 793542 (stamped on underside of weapon). I know nothing about Winchester rifles, so I was just wondering if the nickel plate was some type of factory issued model. Tajna Lakog Zivota Pdf Converter here. Also, I've found a list of Winchester model 1892 serial numbers that would suggest that it would have been made 1914-1915. Does that sound right? Also, can anyone give me a ballpark value for insurance purposes - I realize there probably isn't enough clarity in the pictures for a great look at the nickel and wood.

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm totally new to this, so just learning. 1.A beautiful looking rifle. 2.I don't have a clue as to original finish or not.I'm hoping the experts come along and say it's original. Why?I was replacing glass in a showcase in Maine about 10yrs ago at a small gun shop that specialized in Winchester lever guns when a gentleman came in with one that looks like yours-I thought it was beautiful-the owner asked when it had been nickel plated-the customer replied,2yrs ago,the owner said it was a 25k rifle that was now worth $500,which he offered him. Many thanks guys, I appreciate the perceptive assessments. I tend to agree.
